» Topic: OK if I use Ron33 image in my signature?
http://www.ptboatforum.com/cgi-bin/MB2/netboardr.cgi?cid=101&fid=102&tid=273

I didn't server nor did any of my family serve in Ron33 but I am building a Ron33 boat from the 596 kit and have gotten to know some 2nd generation crew and through them, some of the 1st gen crew.

My question is, would anybody be offended if I use the Ron33 image that I just put in my signature? I have not not erned that right and will replace it if anyone thinks I should.

I don't have a problem with it.

I meant to tell you, my Dad is pretty excited about your model. Can't wait to see it when it's done.

That is good to hear. maybe we can get him a nice photo of it , if I don't screw it up. I painted the hull bottom red so it is drying for a day or so. i have the green paint from WEM already. Not sure yet if i will use #3 green or #5-Navy Green but the other color will be #4 brown and the deck will be #20 Deck Green.

I've asked the495 skipper about what colors he remembers but the color photos of the 493, WEM's interpretation of them, your father's reference to it being brown all point to a green and brown (tan) scheme.

I still need to finish the depth charges and racks. I need to figure out where they should be mounted. Russ, aka "Area 51", (PT-495 crewman) says he thinks aft of the stern fish, on the sides.

I also need to make the added twin 50 mount and decide what to do about an "Acey-Ducey". That is the biggest question i have right now.

Did you see the modified 50 cal depression rails in the latest photos I added to the photo page? What a PITA but I'm glad I did them.

Later,
Ed

Ed,
Who's Russ and when did he serve on the 495?

Whoops. I meant Gus. He is "Area51" on this board. Go back a page or 2 and you will see a post I made to him and his reply. He answered a few questions but didn't respond to some follow-up questions. I appreciated his help but have not seen him posting much on the board.

I think this works this way. It should take you to his post.
Too many late nights working on the model. He was on the 497. Did I get anything right!? All i messed up was his name and boat.

Thanks, it worked. I hope you hear back from Frank Olton soon. I'm real curious as to what he has to say about the 495.
