Hello again Fellas:
I am putting out a request for our PT-374 project. We need 1/35 Pith Helmets, and Utility Hats as worn by the PT BOAT CREWS in the Pacific. If anyone knows where to purchase any or might be willing to donate any, I am sure FRANK R. would be very grateful as would I.............

Hi there.
I wish I had known this when I sent Frank the figure parts as I could have included a couple of them I have from Italeri and Dragon Afirka Korps figures. Are either of you able to cast these if I send you some to use as masters?
Cheers from Peter

Hi Frank: I haven't thought of pith helments in years. I left mine in the Solomons when I came home to U.S. in 1944 on R and R. I never acquired one when I was in the Philippines. They were great sun hats and best of all for watching movies in the rain sitting on coconut logs for seats. With a pancho they kept the water from running down your neck. They were much better than our hooded rain gear because they didn't cover your ears so you could hear the movie.
They were not good underway hats because they would blow off if you did not have a chin strap on them.
Just reminiscing!!!

Hey Peter Tare-
I have every intention of peuchasing a starter resin casting set so that I can then cast the dixie caps you had sent to me as well as other must have and needed gear in multiples.
Yep, we missed the mail pouch on that one Peter. If you can get the master pith helmets to me, I can use the masters to make duplicates and send you back a bunch plus whatever else you need.
The neat thing here is one hand is washing the other, more or less.
Peter, I'm still waiting on the figures! They should be here in a day or two. I will keep you posted! Thanks for everything!

Hi there Frank.
Yes, the figures and parts should arrive soon as they were posted Saturday February 6 and went air-mail for speed delivery. I'll look and see what I have in pith-helmets.
Do you have an image of the type of hat(s) you want? I may be able to provide what you are looking for there too.
Cheers from Peter

Keep it up C. J.! The stories imparted by you and the other guys who actually rode the boats is fascinating...

Thanks so much C.J. I bet you remember those days and nights being in the Rain, and that PITH HELMET keeping the rain off your neck. Your input is always welcome here my friend............

Frank;
when I did a diorama for the UDT/SEAL museum, I used the figures in the Italeri USMC figures. The figure that looks like the Gunny, instead of using his helmet, I made an 8 point utiliy cap out of scratch plastic and Squadron Green Putty. you guys can do this too, since you will only have 5-8 figures with this hat. pith helmets have already been discussed and the suggestions are the only ones out there....unless you make them out of putty too.
Take care,
TED
