Can anyone tell me where I can find some drawings or dimensions of the first style SO radar with the large round dome? Thanks for the help.

Hi Larry
When we obtained the Actual Radar mast from PT Boats inc a couple of years ago for display on the PT658, we constructed a modern facsimile of this same radar dome and transition piece. I used several close up photos of the real thing as well as the measurements on the actual mast in order to come up with something that fit the mounting brackets on the mast, and was in keeping with the general feel and lines of the original domes. We created the much more complex transition piece from built up foam blocks and shaped it into a mold for the final fiberglass shell. Then the commercially available radar dome was able to be mounted onto the transition. After we calculated the proper size, we were astonished to find out that these domes are still available for purchase. Anyway, I can look through my photos and post some of them here that show you the critical dimensions you would need to create a model of the dome.

A good photo that shows details of the Radar mast

Thank you so much for those pictures Jerry, exactly what I needed to build one for my latest project. You may be interested to know I am doing a 1/20th scale RC Higgins Hellcat. Doing it in the later version with roll off racks, an SO radar, twin .50's and a 20mm on the stern. The Hellcat sure had an unusual bridge/helm area layout, but Dr. Ross and Frank Andruss were kind enough to provide me some photos of that area, and it became clear how it was arranged.
