Hi all,
I received a copy of the Italeri PT-109 crew set and I'd like to share my thoughts about this set with you. When we approached Italeri about a PT-109 crew there were some that wanted a crew at rest and others that wanted a crew in action. Italeri decided with this set to make the crew at rest. We sent Italeri a large number of reference photos and suggestions. Italeri uses a 3rd party sculptor to create their figures.

If you're expecting a figure that is a dead ringer for JFK you're not going to find it in this set. At least that's my opinion. Instead I think you'll find the figures to be unique from each other but pretty generic in appearance. I think you can mix up the parts in these kits easily enough and it may be worth getting a few kits and doing just that.

Anyway, here it is close up. I'll let you decide.

Box front and back. A nice touch is the artist penciling in the boat behind the crew.

This sprue shows some of extras included. I like that they are molded as separate pieces rather than molded into the figure. This will give the figure a much more realistic appearance. What you also find in this set is a variety of headwear for the crew including those classic fatigue hats. Unfortunately no pith helmets.

This section shows a crewman's arm painting, and one upper torso without a shirt. I wish there was more of that.

Crews body parts. Note crewman with t-shirt. By the way, no shorts in this set either.

Note the hand holding a pipe. Officers caps. More separate add in's.

Here's the back of a previously shown section. Note the kpoc jacket.

Here's a look showing that the bucket is empty. Just add water! Paint buckets would have been a nice touch. Also you can see the top of the sailors cap.

Backs of body parts. A little flash on the sprue but no factor.

I hope these will work well into your 1/35 PT Boat.

Check out the crazy prices on e-bay from England and Germany for the crew. One guy is charging $53 for shipping.

Prices I saw on eBay looked pretty normal; did see one guy with very high (about 40 bucks) shipping but that was DHL. I've had good luck contacting sellers before I bid and talking them into cheaper, slower shipping options. No idea whether this would work for these crew kits as I'm not currently in the market for anything in 1/35.
