In addition to David Waples, Stu Hurley is also going through the effort to document construction of this kit. I truly appreciate these 2 men working so hard to create historically accurate models that will "look right" even to nitpickers like myself, and for sharing their work with others that can appreciate it. Wow! Some incredible work, Stu. And Jeff, thanks for posting his photos.
Can't wait to see more of Stu's work on this kit, as well as that of Dave and Bob.

That is "Outstanding work guys. Your attention to detail knows no limit. I'm wondering if you suffer from the same problem I have trying to shut off my imagination when it's time to get some sleep.
Great work, can't wait until you get the airbrush fired up.

Do you modelers ever keep track of the hours you take to complete a model? I sure like to
know.

Whew! For a second there I thought you were on your second boat Stu!
Excellent work! I see you have the Italeri upgrade set. How did you find the parts? It's not available over here yet.
I'm just starting on the torpedo tubes. The one thing that has my mystified, and I'm looking at the factory drawings, is the tripping lever covers. The drawings don't make too much sense to me. I'm curious what you did for the wingnuts/thumbscrews. I've ordered some from Royal Model but I have a slight concern they might be a little large. I wish I could find some detailed photographs of the tube hardware.
A thought for you regarding the jack screws, or whatever they're called, used to drive the torpedo tube into firing position. I purchased some threaded rods to replace the kit parts from a company called Scale Hardware. |

Yes. It's 3.16 am. here.

Never really counted it up, but I would reckon on at least 500 hours.
David,
The conversion set is really nice, the masts look good and the etched straps and buckles for the raft a nice touch. I used Bronco models wing nuts and also some from Dragon, supplied in their armour kits. Thanks for the tip about the jackscrews. I'll look out for them.

Actually Victor, I probably spend as much or more time researching than building. Add them together and well.... just don't tell my wife! :-)

You make a good point there. The research on this project has, so far, taken much longer than the work on the kit. and continues as more questions arise.
