I know it has been way to long since I have posted some new photos of the 623. Some of you know about the side projects that have captured all of my time. However, things will move along nicely now that it has all come together. So here are a few photos of the complete crew working over some beached barges. Sure looks like that 40mm loader is in a really bad mood. I know about the "cargo" pants and have just purchased a hot knife to retro fit the entire crew. I'll get some more photos posted real soon.

Roy the boat looks fabulous, and the men make everything come together. If I might make one suggestion, the 40mm crew would consist of 4 sailors, the one you have with the 4 round clip, would be handing it to the loader, already on top of the platform, to feed it into the breech. Things would be much too slow, if one man grabbed a 4 round clip, than had to jump up and down each time. By the time they fired 20 rounds or so, the poor guy would be exhausted. Just my take on things, trust me I am not being critical, I think what you have done looks fantastic. Ok, one more thing, paint the helmets OD Green, Navy gray was pretty much used on capital ships, although not saying some didn't make their way onto the boats. The three helmets I have from PT-374, 313, and 308 are all OD Green. GREAT JOB ROY!!!!!!!!!!

Well that explains that look on the loaders face. Note to Frank: Please remember to enclose on of my helmets in the crate for Roy along with the flag and engine.

Garth, the 623 is a totally scratch built 1/16 scale 5 foot long RC boat made from Baltic Birch, styrene and brass. You can read the full story on page 10 in the May 2012 issue of All Hands.

Nice work Roy! 5' long! It's always nice to see quality scratch work. Would love to see a video of her under way. Thanks so much for sharing.

Roy, let's see here, a Battle Flag, my Packard Engine, and now a helmet, for one broken down old model boat. Your price is too high, but maybe I could send you some photo's of the above mentioned items to put up in your new room............

Roy;
I have to admit, I was always a fan of 77' and early 80' Elco's but after working on these two Italeri 596 models(RON 40 Diorama), and looking at photos of your boat here, I would not mind having a larger R/C late Elco model I could run over here in Virginia Beach. You have done an outstanding job, and like Frank, I can't wait to see your underway video.
Take care,

Roy;
I was just looking at those photos closer, Is that a fire axe mounted on the bulkhead, behind the Stbd .50 cal?
Your attention to detail here is amazing!
Bravo Zulu!!
P.S. I know David wants to see that video too, But Frank is really interested, because he has had Stan secretly working on that request you made, He really will send you that gear for your boat, however, the Battle Flag, the 3 helmets and the Packard Engine, will all be 1/16th scale when they arrive in your mail box.
Take care,
